Drucker: The Art of Rattan since 1885
Drucker is...
The oldest “rattan chair” manufacturer in the world. The drucker family created Drucker in 1885. Louis Drucker and his wife spent their whole professional life creating, assembling and selling these Bistro Chairs and furniture made of rattan, which became through the time a signature of the Parisian “brasserie”. Louis Drucker was the most prolific and creative creator of the Parisian and French market. His business dominated the rattan market during a couple of years since the end of the nineteenth century. The real creator of the “ French bistro chair” is Louis Drucker and there is no one else who could pretend he is. The Drucker family works from father to son and from mother to daughter. All the necessary skills are transferred during a couple of years of learning.
Drucker also managed to find the right balance between the respect of the tradition
and a constant creation of new chair designs. Drucker cares a lot about the quality of all of its products, by selecting the best raw materials and by being careful to have a top quality final product.
Drucker is located in France, 75 km north of Paris, in “ la vallée de l’ automne”, well known for its tourist attractions such as old churches, castles or even windmills. It is also located just next to Crépy-en-Valois, which used to be the city were the kings of France, The Valois, lived.

A Century of Experience...
The catalog is very vast and has chairs that were created during the nineteenth century as well as chairs created recently. Some of these chairs have never been modified. This is the case of the “chaise lounge”, which has been remaining the same since it’s creation in 1907. Some other chairs have often been modified. This is often due to decorators who have special needs. The most famous decorators have always been and still are associated with Drucker leaving their hand print on the Drucker catalog. This is how the Drucker catalog constantly integrates new designs which are often used by the universe of decoration.
Drucker still takes a complementary dimension with its weaving. Picardie has always been, since the middle ages, a region well known for it’s technical weaving and its “jacquards” in particular. The high numbers of different weavings of the Drucker catalogue are their successors. All the personalised chairs with a number of combinations of colours almost infinite are possible because of all the skills acquired through the centuries. The skills of the weaving's are transmitted from generation to generation, usually from mother to daughter.
Weaving
The possibilities are endless with the available weaves from Drucker. Choose from over 30 different colors available in 4 different types of weaves as shown below. The result is over a million different possible designs ensuring your products are unique. Products use a resin material as the main component for the weaving, Drucker calles this their "Rilsan"
Rilsan is made from Castor-oil plant seeds. The oil obtained by the pressing of the seeds has to pass through different operations to succeed in a making a Polyamid named “Polyamid 11”
The rilsan is remarkable by many points :
- Its sustainable flexibility : rilsan doesn’t loose its elasticity even after a couple of years of intensive use.
- It also has a wonderful resistance against the bad weather: it can resist the rain, to salt and even
to the snow.
- It also has a wonderful resistance to the UV and the sun as well as to the insects, molds
- It can also work in temperatures going from –50 degrees to 70 degrees.
- It is always clean and doesn’t require much maintenance. Soapy water is enough to wash the Rilsan
Finally it is a component 100% French.
The 4 options for weaving patterns are:
Basic
Classic
