In 2007 designer Vincent Cantaert had the idea to start a new brand of high end outdoor furniture. He understood that there is a growing niche market for cutting edge eco-friendly outdoor design. Mamagreen was launched in 2007 at the International Furniture Fair Singapore, and presented to the European market at the Spoga show in Cologne. Quality is essential to the growing success of the brand. To ensure the highest standards manufacturing is done in Mamagreen's own factory in Semarang, Indonesia. Mamagreen presents 15 collections, with more than 300 different items. Models include dining, lounge, pool and relax furniture. All furniture pieces are suitable for both residential and hospitality use. The idea behind the design process was to create a country chic experience: contemporary but with a bohemian touch. Springtime, the collection designed by Jean-Marie Massaud, Develops the theme of the “A Cabane” seat with deep eating sofas that can be shaded by a light textile or rattan cover to create privacy even in plain air. 

 

The sofas, with their rigorous linear frame, are designed in two seating depths, a chaise lounge with either a single seat on castors and adjustable headrest or a double seat placed either in parallel or face-to-face. In addition there is the option of rectangular and square tables that can be converted into vase holders. The collection comes with other accessories, such as a pouf, small tables, and an enameled steel brazier. The collection creates a consistent landscape, whose refinement is based on the use of white varnished aluminum frames, stainless tell holders and waterproof fabrics in three shades that match the fleece upholstery of padded parts. 

 

Angular lines and formal chic return with the rectangular table of the Springtime collection. Constructed in white-varnished aluminum and equipped with stainless steel supports, the table is available with either grey porcelain stoneware top which is divided into three sections or a single surfaced white stratified HPL top with a transversal pattern of milled lines.

Summit teak comes from a tropical deciduous forest tree native to Southeast Asia. The teakwood tree, is plantation-grown on the Indonesian island of Java. The wood is highly valued because of its beautiful grain and color and is preferred in shipbuilding and furniture making. Teak is strong and durable, almost immune to decay and contains an oil that is resistant to insects. The teakwood tree grows to 150 ft in height and is 3 to 8 ft in diameter at the base. The leaves are among the largest in the world, 2 ft long and 1.5 ft  wide. They yield a purple dye and are used for thatching and wrapping. Teakwood leaves are so rough to the touch that they are used for sandpaper in Asia. This tree also has tiny white flowers that grow in clusters and a small fruit the size of a cherry that contains oily seeds.

Teak and The Enviroment
Teak trees are not indigenous to Indonesia but climatic conditions on the island of Java are ideal for growing teak.  Teak was originally introduced to the islands by Buddhist Monks, some 700 years ago. When the Dutch colonized Indonesia in the 19th century, they soon realized the opportunity to establish large plantations and introduced the sustainable management systems that are still in use today. Teak plantations are not much different than any other crop, except that the growing cycle is far longer. Within the plantations, the trees are continuously cared for by the local population and over their lifetime the trees are regularly pruned and the integrity of the plantations carefully maintained. This ultimately results in a better quality of timber - healthier wood, straighter grain and less knots. Ideal for use in outdoor furniture. Gloster works continually with the managers of the government owned plantations and other interested parties to ensure that everything to do with their teak is environmentally friendly
